The term "custom rocker" refers to the size of the chair and the wood used in its creation. These chairs come in three
standard sizes based on your height: Small (5'0" to 5'4), Medium (5'5" to 5'9") and Large (5'10 to 6'1"). Standard rockers are
constructed using data compiled for the automotive, furniture and clothing industries among others. Because of this, most
people will feel very comfortable in the medium-sized chair. However, if you require a truly custom chair I can build it to your
specific measurements.
Most of my rockers are made from domestic hardwoods like Ash, American Walnut, Sugar Maple, Curly Maple, White Oak, and
Black Cherry. Prices for a standard rocker begin at $2400. Loveseat rockers start out at $3400. Special accents and larger
sizes require an additional $200 to $500 and will be discussed at the time of your order.
If you would like a highly figured wood (Bird’s Eye Maple, Flame Walnut, Claro Walnut) or exotic (Koa, Purpleheart, Padauk),
the price will reflect the additional cost of the lumber.
Before construction, I require a 50% deposit. The remaining balance must be paid prior to shipping. As I am a low volume
chair maker, I do not accept credit cards (yet) in order to keep my prices reasonable. I gladly accept cash, personal checks,
money orders and cashier’s checks.
From choosing lumber to the final polishing, it usually takes between four to six weeks to complete a chair. If your request is
extraordinarily unusual, it may take longer. Because I build each chair by hand, backlogs do occur and you will be notified
accordingly.
In the continental U.S., shipping charges are usually between $300 and $500. A firm quote will be given at the time of your
order. If you happen to live within a few hours of Springfield, OH, I will be delighted to make the delivery myself at no extra
cost!
